01What anonymous means here
Inside the community you are known only by a name you choose. Other members never see your real name, your email address, your phone number, or anything that identifies you. What you share, you share as the name you picked.
We will state the limit as plainly as the promise. To run your account we hold one direct identifier, the email you sign in with. We never show it to other members, we never attach it to what you write, and we never sell it or anything else. The precise word for how the community works is pseudonymous, and we use that word because it is the honest one. Anyone who tells you an account with a login is perfectly anonymous is selling something.
There is no real-name requirement anywhere, no contact syncing, no invitation to find people you know. Most members are here precisely because nobody they know is.
02What the community is
Steel Magnolias is a community app for women navigating divorce, on the App Store and Google Play today. It began as a community: about 150 women meeting in group chats, on weekly Zoom calls, and in person, before the app existed.
The community happens mostly in writing, under the name you chose. Gardens is the live community chat, part of full membership, with The Oasis, topic chats, and direct messages. Meadows are live audio rooms. Roots is the community forum, free to read and free to post, where questions about the process get answered by women who have been through it. Receipts is a private documentation tool: dated entries in your own words. What you keep there is yours, not part of the community.

03The safety posture
The app is built for women whose phones may not be private: pseudonyms by default, screen-capture shielding, an optional app lock, and notifications that are generic by default, so a lock screen names nothing sensitive. Crisis tools, including one-tap access to the 988 Lifeline and the National Domestic Violence Hotline, are free and never paywalled.
There are no ads, no data sale, and no cross-app tracking, anywhere. We never claim to be abuser-proof; we claim to take the threat model seriously.
04What it costs
Roots (the community forum) and crisis tools are free. Full membership is $129/year or $14.99/month. The first 500 member spots carry a launch price of $59.99 for the first year, then $129/year, on iPhone; the live counter on the home page shows how many spots remain.
