Child Safety Standards

Steel Magnolias is committed to preventing child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE) and child sexual abuse material (CSAM) on our platform. These published standards describe how we protect against CSAE and meet our obligations under the law and under Google Play's Child Safety Standards policy.

Last updated: June 30, 2026

01An adults-only community

Steel Magnolias is intended for adults 18 and older. We do not knowingly allow anyone under 18 to create an account or use the app.

Before any account can be created, every person must confirm that they are 18 or older. Anyone who indicates they are under 18 is not given a path to create an account; instead they are shown support resources. Our Terms of Service require that members be 18 or older.

02Zero tolerance for child sexual abuse and exploitation

We have zero tolerance for any content or conduct that sexualizes, exploits, or endangers children, including:

  • Child sexual abuse material (CSAM) in any form.
  • The grooming, solicitation, or sexualization of a minor.
  • Any attempt to use the platform to identify, contact, or facilitate harm to a child.

This conduct is strictly prohibited by our Terms of Service and Community Guidelines. It results in immediate removal of the content and termination of the account involved.

03How we prevent and respond to CSAE

  • Age assurance. An 18-and-older gate runs before any account is created; there is no registration path for a minor.
  • In-app reporting. Every member can report content or another member directly inside the app. Reports are routed to our moderation team for review.
  • Blocking. Members can block another member at any time.
  • Content moderation. User-generated content is moderated, and we treat any report involving child safety as a priority.
  • Removal and termination. We remove violating content and terminate accounts involved in CSAE, and we may preserve associated information as required by law.

04Reporting to authorities

If we become aware of apparent child sexual abuse material or the exploitation of a child, we will:

  • Preserve relevant information as required by law.
  • Report to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) and to appropriate law enforcement, consistent with United States law (including 18 U.S.C. § 2258A).
  • Cooperate with lawful requests from authorities.

If you encounter content or conduct that endangers a child, please report it inside the app and contact us using the details below. If a child is in immediate danger, contact your local emergency services (911 in the United States). You can also report directly to NCMEC's CyberTipline at report.cybertip.org or by calling 1-800-843-5678.
