This page explains how to delete your Steel Magnolias account and the data associated with it. It applies to the Steel Magnolias mobile app, published by Steel Magnolias LLC.
01How to request deletion
In the app:
- Open the Steel Magnolias app and sign in.
- Tap the You button (top right) to open your Profile.
- Tap Delete account.
- Choose what happens to the things you've posted (see below) and confirm.
Your deletion is scheduled for 30 days from your request and becomes permanent after that.
If you can't open the app (for example, you've uninstalled it), email us at hello@steelmagnolias.app from the email address on your account, and we'll delete your account and its data for you.
02Changed your mind?
During the 30-day window, before the deletion is carried out, email us at hello@steelmagnolias.app and we'll cancel it.
03What is deleted
When your account is deleted, your account and personal information are removed — your profile, the personal details on your account, and your login — and you can no longer sign in. The subscription and billing records Steel Magnolias holds are also removed. (Payment information itself is held by Apple or Google, not by Steel Magnolias — manage or cancel a subscription in your device's App Store or Google Play settings.)
Your private Receipts (recordings and transcripts) are permanently deleted in both modes below. Save or export anything you need before you request deletion.
When you delete, you choose what happens to what you've posted:
- Remove everything — your community posts, comments, and chat messages (including direct messages) are permanently removed along with your account.
- Keep my contributions — your account is still deleted, but your community posts, comments, and chat messages are kept so the conversations others took part in aren't broken. Your posts and comments no longer show your name, and your past chat messages and direct messages stay in their conversations under a neutral label (like "Member-1a2b3c4d") instead of your chosen name.
04What is kept
- If you chose "Keep my contributions," your community posts, comments, and chat messages remain after your account is deleted, as described above.
- Terminated accounts (safety exception) — if your account was terminated for serious violations of our community rules, we do not fully delete it: we keep a minimal, non-identifying record and your email address, only to enforce our community rules, maintain our block list, and prevent re-registration. It contains no profile content.
